The Q Well Being story
When Carl Davies, CEO of Quality Investment Solutions was 17 his best friend, Adam Thomas, was paralysed in a motorbike accident. Adam is now a very successful entrepreneur (designing accessible kitchens for disabled and elderly people) and Carl and Adam stayed in touch over the years (even though he is an Arsenal season ticket holder!). Adam is a really confident person and traveller, but many others in his position are not.
Adam (a wheelchair user) and Carl came up with the concept of Q Well Being whilst Adam and his wife, Agnes Fletcher, were contemplating buying a property in Cyprus. What they realised was that which ever property they looked at there were always compromises that had to be made in terms of accessibility. Parking spaces were not large enough; steps were inconveniently placed; light switches were in the wrong place; bathrooms were too small; corridors too narrow and swimming pools looked appealing but in practice could not be used!
Knowing the problems wheelchair users (and the elderly) have getting into buildings and using the transport system Carl and Adam were curious to find what was available across Europe in terms of luxury accessible apartments, for a family affected by disability (or the elderly affected by mobility difficulties); where they could live or holiday free from the normal worries and difficulties. They were dismayed to find how few properties there are that are marketed as accessible let alone purpose built to be inclusive!
So they set out to ensure that Q Well Being was going to change this with a truly luxurious development of apartments / holiday homes for the investor who is affected by disability somewhere in their family yet wants the whole family to go away together and enjoy a pampered holiday in a warm and sunny location.
All Q Well Being apartments will be generously proportioned with their own large balconies. (Profit margins have been drastically reduced to ensure impressive proportions at excellent value!) All facilities have beeen thought of as will the needs of all the users / owners. Q Well Being has been designed by disabled people for disabled and elderly families yet will be owned by both able and disabled people alike. Inclusivity is the key!
Q Well Being is going to be a destination that only those who know will realise is an accessible resort. It will have an accessible spa, swimming pool with a hoist and ramp, an accessible Gym, a traditional restaurant and great views with the comfort of knowing that it’s within 5 minutes of all the essential amenities necessary for a great holiday. That means the beach, golf course and even the hospital!
Q Well Being will be a place that you can stay in for the winter months whilst Northern Europe is dark and cold. As a holiday destination you’ll be able to use it as a base and travel around or you can stay on the resort for the entire length of your holiday; the choice will be yours.
As Q Well Being is unique it will also be in demand so if an owner wants to rent it out to family and friends it will also make an excellent investment!
Q Well Being is launching now and will be completed in early 2012.
Q Well Being is also donating a proportion of it’s profits to The Lord’s Taverners, a charity that gives children, especially those with special needs a sporting chance.
